Position Summary:
As a Product Manager at GovSpend, you’ll help us achieve our long-term strategy and mission by developing a strong understanding of the market and the challenges our customers face, identifying achievable opportunities to solve those challenges, translating those opportunities into actionable projects with measurable outcomes, and then working cross-functionally across the organization to deliver those solutions for our customers.
You will play a key role in driving GovSpend’s AI-enabled product innovation strategy, partnering with our engineering teams to build products powered by large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and intelligent agents.
What you’ll do:
- Drive the execution of projects through our Agile software development lifecycle, acting as the Product Owner and setting priorities for the team with an emphasis on delivering value for customers.
- Create clear and concise requirements in the form of user stories in partnership with engineering, data, and UI/UX teams.
- Identify opportunities to embed AI and machine learning into the GovSpend platform to improve and transform the customer experience.
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to define how AI capabilities can be trained, tested, scaled, and deployed into production environments.
- Effectively communicate product vision, requirements, and progress to stakeholders across the organization.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners in engineering, design, and data to drive inspiring outcomes across teams within this group and across the organization.
- Collaborate with our commercial teams to identify product enhancements that will generate new business opportunities and growth within our target markets.
- Engage frequently with customers to understand their challenges and provide insight into our roadmap, generating excitement and validating our product strategy.
- Provide product training and support go-to-market initiatives in partnership with marketing to ensure new feature adoption and usage growth across the GovSpend customer base.
- Perform other job duties as assigned to meet the business needs.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related area. Proven work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5-7 years of Product Management experience.
- Experience with various AI capabilities and tools (LLMs, RAG, ML, AI agents) and how they can be used to improve and differentiate the product experience
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with AI/ML engineering, product, design, and go-to-market teams
- 3+ years of experience working with internal Sales and Relationship Management teams.
- 3+ years of experience working directly with customers.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, ideally with experience in a Product Owner role.
- Familiarity with Federal/State/Local Government procurement is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and motivational skills.

- Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment, as well as working independently in a self-directed manner in order to meet short- and long-term goals.
- An agile approach and creative spirit to understand, document, highlight, and prioritize issues as they arise.
- Start-up experience is a plus.
